JEFF'S BIO

Jeff Riley is excited to be home in Arizona with his 3-year-old twin daughters, Barney and Berley. After years working as a lawyer and housing advocate for rural and Indian communities, Jeff knows firsthand how critical it is to change course in Washington, DC.

Jeff Riley. Standing up to George W. Bush.

Jeff stood up to the Bush administration to fight to get a fair deal for all Arizonans. After 8 years of George Bush's failed leadership, Jeff knows it's time for something different. Jeff Riley is ready to be the strong voice Arizona families need working for them from Day One. That's why he's running for Congress.

Jeff Riley. A proud father.

Jeff and his family call Prescott Valley home. His daughter Barney is enrolled at God's World preschool and his daughter Berley is a student at Bright Futures, where she receives special instruction as a child with Down Syndrome. Jeff's daughters are his pride and joy, and together they are having the time of their lives preparing to serve the people of the 1st District in the U.S. Congress.

Jeff Riley. Standing tall for Arizona's rural communities.

Jeff Riley understands rural communities and knows how the same old politics in Washington, DC are failing them. Growing up in rural Kentucky and rural Iowa, Jeff saw his parents work hard to provide for their family. His dad was a truck driver and his mom a teacher, and Jeff learned early on that everyone had to pitch in to make ends meet. Jeff spent summers working on the farm-walking beans, farrowing pigs, baling hay, and painting barns.

Jeff Riley. Coming to Arizona.

After high school graduation, Jeff embarked on a year with the nationally renowned community service and learning program, Up With People, in Tucson, Arizona. After his service in Tucson, Jeff enrolled at Arizona State University.

During his time at ASU, Jeff served two internships in Washington, DC-one in the United States Senate and the other at the White House. Jeff worked for President Clinton in the Office of Correspondence while he worked his way through law school at George Washington University.

Jeff Riley. Putting public service ahead of making money.

After completing law school, Jeff began his work as a financial services lawyer with a large law firm. After a meeting in 2001, he began working for Congressman Barney Frank as counsel to the House Financial Services Committee. Under Barney Frank's leadership, Jeff learned how to fight for the underserved.

Jeff Riley. Fighting to get Arizona its fair share.

Jeff became Chairman Frank's lead advisor on rural housing-particularly Indian housing-as well as manufactured housing, and flood insurance. And Jeff led the effort to make sure Arizona got its fair share of Federal programs. He's proud to have authored the Native American Housing Assistance Self-Determination Reauthorization Act, the Rural Housing Preservation Act and the National Flood Insurance Reform Bill. In all, Jeff helped write, negotiate, and pass more than 15 bills in 2007.

Jeff Riley. Ready to fix what's broken.

With behind the scenes experience getting things done in Congress and a keen understanding of how to fix what's broken in our political system, Jeff Riley knows it's time for something different. He'll hit the ground running in Washington, DC for the families of Arizona's 1st Congressional District.

Many thanks.
